Frequently Asked Questions

How can I receive material from the Xavier Society?
Simply call us or write us. Once we have verified that you are eligible, you can start receiving materials immediately.

Is there any charge for your services?
No. Since 1900, when the Xavier Society for the Blind was founded, all our services have been provided at no cost.

Can I contribute online?
Yes. Go to the section entitled Contributions. At the top of the page is a large button/link that will take you to our secure payment option. We accept Visa, Discover, and Master Card credit cards.

Are you going to be offering recordings in digital, on CD’s?
All audio offerings in the library are in digital MP3 format and many may be downloaded from our secure web site. All periodicals are now available only by download.

I have a friend who is blind. How can I get your materials for him?
Simply call us up or have your friend call, and we can take the necessary information and help you or your friend through the registration process. After that, it is simply a matter of asking for what books or periodicals you want, and we will be sending them out to you.

Are my donations tax-deductible?
Absolutely. We acknowledge each gift received, so you always have a record of your gift. We can also provide records of you donations if you every need them or lose your own records. Purchase of raffle tickets or tickets to events may be deductible, depending on the event and other circumstances.

Do you need or use volunteers?
Definitely. Remember, the ladies who founded the Xavier Society for the Blind were volunteers, and today we continue to have men and women who help make possible what we do. If you have a special talent or skill, we might have a need for that. All of our readers are volunteers, and we use volunteers to help with braille transcription and braille proofreading, assist us with design and artistic projects, and pitch in with a variety of other needs.

Go to the section entitled Volunteer to see what opportunities are available.
